Boom! Almost.

There isn't much to say about this one, other than I probably got incredibly lucky.

I had this powerbank in use for a video shoot. A few days later, while I was out and about, I noticed it felt unusually warm. Then I saw it: the casing was starting to warp. I didn't take any chances—I threw it as far away as I could.

It sat there for hours. Only after I was sure it had cooled down did I carefully pick it up again. Maybe it was a bit naive, but I decided to hand it over to a friend for a scan instead of just scrapping it.

When the images came back, the internal damage was obvious. I was incredibly lucky this didn't escalate further. These scans show quite impressively what can happen to standard, off-the-shelf powerbanks—which is exactly why I feel it's important to share them.
